18th Srebrenica Genocide Memorial

On July 11th 1995, units of the Bosnian Serb Army of Republika Srpska, led by the General Ratko Mladić, perpetrated the genocide of 8372 Muslim Bosnians in the region of Srbrenica, mostly men and boys, in what is considered as the worst mass murder in European territory since the II World War.

As of today, some of the bodies remain missing or incomplete, and every 11th of July, the relatives and friends of those who passed away that day commemorate their deaths at the Memorial Centre of Potočari, where the identified bodies are buried every year.

The following pictures were taken at the 18th anniversary of the Srebrenica Massacre, as a part of a photojournalism workshop.
